Photowalk [RE-] Connect
Here’s a little recap for those that couldn’t attend our ACA analog event: [Re-] connect an analog photo walk held on Sunday 23 of May. With all the Covid regulations I had to postpone analog event #5 in late January. Instead, in January I held a little zoom meeting with a short Kahoot quiz about analog photography and showed a nice video to inspire the people in the zoom meeting.
Fast forward to last weekend, the Dutch government finally loosen the restrictions a bit and we were allowed to get together with a maximum of 30 persons. I made the decision to not promote this photo walk on my Instagram too much. The reason being, I already have a WhatsApp group with a cool bunch of analog shooters and gambled there would be enough interest. I did however sent some DM’s to persons who missed out on the previous photo walks.
But, it’s going to rain
When you organize a photo walk you are always insecure about the weather, ergo which iso-film to bring with you and to shoot with. In the temporary app group for this photo walk, we had some pre-fun (concerns) about the weather, which camera to bring along etc. In my communication I stated I had the theme [Re-]Connect in mind, you know 80% chitchat and 20% shooting. And hopefully, inspire each other and see how others see a situation/subject.
False Start
At 10:45-11:00 everyone was at the meeting point I communicated and as always I started with a short introduction. Only this time a random guy had another plan and kept interrupting me and I was a bit off track. Luckily, Dick was so kind to get the guy separate from the group and walk with him for a personal tete-a-tete.
So with approximately 39 (from 49) people showing up, I divided the group in 2 by luck of the draw. For this purpose, I made a bunch of keychains with different quotes from different photographers. And everyone picked a keychain out of a bag. The persons who picked a keychain with a quote of one of my favorite photographer: Daido Moriyama, went with Jeroen (aka Amsterdamanalog). Jeroen, a fellow Mokum guy, was kind enough to act as a guide for the first 45 minutes. After which we meet up again in the next park (Frankendael park).
Take a digital to an analog party and you get issues
So yes I brought a digital gadget as well. I like to watch POV videos from around the world so I thought why not make one during the photo walk. Well, my GoPro had another thought, only recording sound and stopped recording video after 1.5 hours just a freezing image for the remaining 2 hours. (I will update this page with the edited video footage)
No more text, just a bunch of photos taken by participants
Camera Porn
One of the most important things for a proper analog photo walk is of course the camera overview photo. Everyone has to show his or her latest acquisition. So here’s just a quick list of analog cameras I spotted
- Leica M2, M3, M7
- Mamiya
- Hasselblad
- Nikon
- Canon
- including the Canon dream lens 50mm f/0.95
- Minolta
- Rolleicord / Rolleilflex
- KMZ
- Olympus pen
- Exakta
- Pentax 67 (3x)
- and more (if you see yours and I forgot please put it in the comments or contact me)
And after photo walk, photo talk photos
